UK Dredging (UKD) has an exciting new vacancy for a Crew Coordinator based in Cardiff.
UKD is a wholly-owned operating division of ABP, which operates a fleet of 6 ships that specialise in the provision of reliable and cost-effective port maintenance dredging services to both ABP and its third-party clients throughout the UK and North-West Europe.
The Crew Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering effective ship crew deployment and the development and implementation of immediate and long-term crewing strategies. This ensures that all UKD ships continue to meet compliance with relevant Merchant Shipping Regulations such as MLC, STCW and statutory safe manning requirements and are always crewed by the appropriate mix of qualifications, competence, skills and experience to operate safely and efficiently.
On a typical day, you will be planning and coordinating the deployment of permanent and temporary crew, overseeing logistics and travel arrangements to ensure that the right people are onboard at the right time. You will take the lead in recruitment of both temporary and permanent crew, identifying the requirements and engaging with the wider UKD management team, crewing agencies and appropriate recruitment partners. You will also be heavily involved with crew training and development plans, performance and absence management and disciplinary proceedings.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and well organised individual who is capable of managing many tasks at once and able to reprioritise work at short notice whilst remaining attentive to detail. Your experience may have been gained from a range of backgrounds including maritime, HR, recruitment, supply chain, planning or business support.
