Android smartphones can be purchased from a wide array of designs and specifications, but they are all plagued by one common issue – slow software update. While Android OEMs promise to roll out software updates, they often fall short of delivering on that promise.
The arrival of timely update has been the go to reason for buying Google’s Pixel or Nexus-branded devices over a far better hardware from other OEMs. With its second-generation Pixel smartphones, Google is promising three years of major software update, and monthly security patches. New Nokia 7 Plus phone to have Android 8.0 Oreo and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 processor
With the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 fast approaching, speculated about new phones have started circulating. One of these new phones rumored to be unveiled at the upcoming event is Nokia's 7 Plus. There is now a reason to believe that the new phone exists: Geekbench, a cross-platform benchmark that measures a hardware's performance, released an entry on Jan. 26 about Nokia 7 Plus and its specs, which include Android 8.0 Oreo and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660.
According to Geekbench's entry, Nokia 7 Plus will sport Android 8.0 Oreo for its operating system. The processor, on the other hand, will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 eight-core system-on-chip (SoC) running with a base frequency of 1.84 GHz — an upgrade from Nokia 7's Snapdragon 630 SoC.
